Home Minister Amit Shah Announces 7th National Security Guard Hub In Ayodhya With 24-Hour Deployment Commitment

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (14 October) announced the establishment of a new National Security Guard (NSG) hub in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, making it the seventh such centre in India, the Hindustan Times reported.

The announcement was made during the 41st Raising Day celebrations of the NSG in Manesar, Haryana.

“The NSG’s new hub is being stationed in Ayodhya. With this, all six such hubs of NSG will help in mitigating any terror attack,” Shah said, adding that major reforms in the force’s role and operational scope are underway.

The existing hubs are located in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu.

Praising the elite ‘Black Cat’ commandos, Shah said the force has been “fighting a formidable fight against organised crime and terrorism in the country for four decades.”

He also inaugurated the Special Operation Training Centre (SOTC), which will now be used not only for NSG personnel but also to train state police forces in counter-terror operations.

Highlighting India’s new security posture, Shah referred to Operation Sindoor, saying the mission ensured the “destruction of Pakistani terror headquarters, their training centres and launchpads.”

He added, “NSG commandos will be deployed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A zone will be designated for them around that centre, and the Special Composite Group will be available to respond to any sudden terrorist attack on that zone.”

The NSG, created in 1986, is a federal contingency force under the Union Home Ministry, tasked with counter-terrorism, counter-hijack operations, and the protection of high-risk VIPs.

Its commandos are drawn from the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces, undergoing rigorous training before induction.

The new Ayodhya hub is expected to enhance rapid response capability in northern India, particularly in the high-security temple town.
