India Extends Support To Resolve Russia-Ukraine Conflict, PM Modi Praises BRICS In Meeting With Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (22 October) held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit.

He highlighted the opening of India's new consulate and the strong bilateral ties between the two countries as this is Modi's second visit to Russia in the last three months reflect.

"Our Annual Summit in Moscow in July has strengthened our cooperation in every field. In 15 years, the BRICS has created its special identity and now many countries of the world want to join it," Modi said.

He reiterated India's call for peace in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and said, "All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible cooperation in the times to come."

Putin recalled his July meeting with Modi and several phone conversations between them and expressed hope for taking some important decisions during the upcoming BRICS Summit.

"The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled for 12 December in New Delhi. Our projects are constantly developing. We are very happy to see you and your delegation in Russia," Putin said.
