Demonstrating a strong alliance on security matters, Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, Jonathan Powell, the UK's National Security Advisor, and Andrew Hampton, the head of intelligence in New Zealand, collaborated with intelligence leaders from various countries at a meeting in New Delhi on Sunday (16 March).
The conference arranged by the National Security Council Secretariat was attended by intelligence chiefs, who were the guests of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, R&AW head Ravi Sinha, and Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka, Indian Express reported.
The meeting on Sunday, involving major representatives from at least three countries out of the Five Eyes alliance - a partnership for sharing intelligence between the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand - underscores the strong bond and collaboration in security and intelligence matters between New Delhi and its allies.
Christopher Luxon, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, who is currently on a five-day visit, is set to engage in extensive discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
On his inaugural visit to the country as Prime Minister, Luxon is accompanied by one of the most sizable delegations a New Zealand Prime Minister has ever had.
The focus of Luxon is a comprehensive economic partnership and the trading relationships with India. "India is an important power in the Indo-Pacific and I will discuss with Prime Minister Modi what more we can do together to maintain peace and prosperity in our region," he said.
Luxon stated that journeying alongside a high-ranking business group would enhance trade and business prospects, as well as advertise New Zealand as a potential investment location.
Before making his way back to Wellington, Luxon will also be visiting Mumbai on the 19 and 20 of March.
