In two separate encounters started on Saturday (6 July) in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, four terrorists were killed while two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives.

The first encounter broke out in Modergam village, while the other began hours after in Frisal Chinnigam area. The operations are still underway and further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, homage was paid to Lance Naik Pardeep Kumar and Sepoy Pravin Janjal Prabhakar, who lost their lives in the encounter yesterday.

Chinar Corps Commander, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and Director General of Police were present among other dignitaries for saluting the valour and sacrifice of both brave hearts.

The clash ensued after a joint operation by the CRPF, Army, and local police, upon receiving intelligence about presence of terrorists in Modergam village.

The region has witnessed an uptick in terrorist activities recently, with several encounters reported. Last month, security forces neutralised three terrorists in the Gandoh area of Doda district.
