With Indian Railways accepting all the demands of candidates, over a crore eligible applicants would now be appearing for the test for track maintainers and helpers jobs among other Group D posts in the Non Technical Popular Categories (NTPC).
There are 7,19,556 post graduates, 39,25,822 graduates including BTech, 59,10,255 matriculates and 5,98,855 ITI diploma holders among the 1.1 crore candidates eligible to appear for the test for gangmen jobs, the Level 1 post in Indian Railways.
The minimum qualification for the Level 1 post is completion of Class X. We have addressed all the concerns raised by the candidates and now we are going ahead with the task of conducting the examination, said a senior railway official.
The railways had constituted a high-power committee of senior officials to look into the concerns raised by candidates with regard to the results of 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) of NTPC exam without affecting existing shortlisted candidates and introduction of 2nd Stage CBT.
The committee had received a total 2.91 lakh complaints and suggestions from the candidates. After carefully examining the concerns, the panel considered all of these suggestions.
It was decided that there would be a single stage exam for Level-1 posts instead of two-stage.
After the first stage, shortlisted candidates would be appearing for medical tests only before the final selection.
Medical standards as prescribed in Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) will be used for different posts of Level-1, according to the railways.
The CBT for Level-1 is being planned to be held from July 2022 onwards.
