India’s automobile exports rose by 22 per cent year-on-year in the April–June quarter of FY26, powered by record passenger vehicle (PV) shipments and robust growth across two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and three-wheelers, according to SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), reported Business Line.
Overall exports across all segments grew to 14,57,461 units, up from 11,92,566 units during the same quarter last fiscal.
Passenger Vehicle Exports Reach New High
Passenger vehicle exports reached 2,04,330 units, up 13 per cent from 1,80,483 units a year earlier.
According to SIAM, the growth was fuelled by consistent demand across international markets, especially the Middle East, Latin America, Japan, and South Asian neighbours like Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), such as with Australia, also contributed to the spike.
Maruti Suzuki Emerges as Export Leader
Maruti Suzuki topped the list of exporters in the PV segment, shipping 96,181 units, a 37 per cent increase from 69,962 units in Q1 last year.
The company’s share in India’s passenger vehicle exports rose to over 47 per cent.
Hyundai Motor India, in comparison, shipped 48,140 units, registering 13 per cent growth from the previous year’s 42,600 units.
Two- and Three-Wheelers Also Show Strong Growth
Exports of two-wheelers jumped to 11,36,942 units, up 23 per cent from 9,23,148 units in the same quarter last year.
Three-wheeler exports surged 34 per cent to 95,796 units.
Meanwhile, commercial vehicle shipments rose 23 per cent year-on-year to 19,427 units.
