Indore is on the verge of a major leap in public transportation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate passenger services on the Indore Metro’s Super Priority Corridor on 31 May.

PM Modi is set to visit Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (31 May), where he will launch multiple development projects including the super priority corridor on Indore Metro's Yellow Line.

"In line with his commitment to improve travel infrastructure in the cities, Prime Minister will inaugurate passenger services on the Super Priority Corridor of the Yellow Line of Indore Metro," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

The metro service is expected to reduce traffic and pollution in the city while offering a comfortable commute to passengers.

This milestone will make Indore the first city in Madhya Pradesh to offer Metro train services to commuters.

The initial operational phase will cover a 6 km stretch of the Yellow Line, known as the Super Priority Corridor.

The corridor will include five major stations: Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, and Super Corridor 3. Passenger services will commence from the Gandhi Nagar station.

A total of 13 coaches have already arrived at the Metro train depot in preparation for the launch.

The Yellow Line, once completed, will span 31.32 km comprising 22.62 km of elevated track and 8.7 km of underground sections and feature 28 stations.

The total cost of the project is approximately Rs 7,500 crore, with the Super Priority Corridor alone accounting for around Rs 1,520 crore.
