SUN Mobility is poised to enhance Bengaluru’s EV ecosystem by establishing nearly 100 battery-swapping centres across Bengaluru Metro stations, seamlessly integrating electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with public transport. This ambitious expansion will span the entire metro network.

Currently, Bengaluru witnesses approximately 22,000 vehicle swaps per month at SUN Mobility’s existing stations, with each station facilitating around 100 swaps daily, consuming 130-140 kilowatt-hours of energy.

“We will have around 100 plus stations in Bengaluru Metro as well, covering throughout the length and breadth of the network,” stated Anant Badjatya, CEO of IndoFast Energy—a 50:50 joint venture between IOCL and SUN Mobility.

These battery-swapping stations are strategically located in parking areas and auto stands, catering to passengers commuting via metro trains.

Over the past month, these stations have supported 19,000 vehicle throughputs, with each BMRCL station serving an average of 2,800 vehicles—comprising 2,300 two-wheeler trips and 500 three-wheeler trips.

Nationwide, SUN Mobility operates over 630 battery-swapping stations across 20 cities, utilizing more than 50,000 smart batteries.

The network enables over a million vehicle swaps monthly, showcasing its critical role in advancing India’s EV revolution.
