J&K Administration Sets Up Special Task Force To Identify Govt Employees Posing Threat To Security
In a bid to identify those government employees who could be a threat to the national security, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration on Wednesday (21 April) decided to set up a special task force (STF) for the same.
The STF will be headed by an additional director general of police (ADGP) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and will also have four other member.
The task force will scrutinise the cases of employees suspected of activities requiring action under Article 311(2)(C) of the Constitution of India, according to an order by the J&K government's general administration department (GAD).
Under the proviso (C) of Article 311(2) of the Constitution of India, if the President is satisfied that the retention of a person in public service is prejudicial to the security of the State, his services can be terminated without recourse to the normal procedure.
The task force will then “compile records of such employees, when ever necessary and refer it to the committee,” reads the order signed by Manoj Kumar, commissioner secretary to J&K government.
The committee that the STF will refer cases to was set up by the government in 2020, and is headed by J&K chief secretary.
The STF has also been empowered to engage with other members of the Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) for identifying such other employees, as necessary.
