Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been summoned by the Lokayukta for questioning on Wednesday (6 November) in relation to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.
The Lokayukta Police have previously questioned his wife Parvathi BM and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy regarding the case. MUDA office was also searched by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last month.
The summons follows a court ruling affirming the Governor’s authority to permit the CM’s questioning by the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta had registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on a special court's directives.
The case involves the allocation of 14 high-value plots to Parvathi as compensation for her 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village near Mysuru. Activists allege that this transaction resulted in a Rs 45 crore loss to the state.
Siddaramaiah is listed as the first accused in the FIR, while his wife Parvathi is the second. Amid the ongoing dispute, Parvathi recently wrote to MUDA, surrendering the allocated sites.
Regarding the letter, Siddaramaiah said that returning the plots was her wife's decision as this was gifted to her by her brother. The land was later encroached by MUDA and an alternative site was given.
