After Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Delhi and West Bengal of not implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged irregularities in the Centre's health scheme.
Addressing a gathering on Tuesday (29 October), Modi apologised to the elderly people above 70 years of age of Delhi and West Bengal for not being able to serve them as the respective state governments have not implemented the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Responding to this, Kejriwal claimed that every person living in Delhi gets complete treatment free of cost no matter how much it costs, 'from a pill worth Rs 5 to a treatment worth Rs 1 crore' and offered to share record of beneficiaries.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener then alleged that Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) found many irregularities in Ayushman Bharat scheme and that it is difficult to find beneficiaries of the Centre's health scheme.
Kejriwal requested PM Modi to not politicise the issue of health and study the Delhi model and implement it across the country, instead of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, 'so that people can benefit on the ground.'
Interestingly, earlier this month, the AAP has itself raised the issue of 'corruption' in payments to private hospitals as per the Delhi health scheme due to discrepancy in the hospital information management system.
