Maoist leader C P Moidheen was arrested by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Alappuzha, Kerala on Thursday (1 Auguts) night, according to a report by The New Indian Express.

Moidheen, facing multiple charges including violations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), had been the target of an ATS manhunt for several months.

Subsequently, a search notice was issued for him two months ago.

Moidheen, originally from Malappuram, is the brother of C P Jaleel, who was killed in 2019 during an encounter with the Thunderbolts, Kerala Police's commando unit, in Lakkidi village, Wayanad.

Alongside Moidheen, his associates Soman and Santhosh also escaped from the jungle.

The ATS recently captured Soman, a 49-year-old native of Kalpetta, at Shoranur railway station in Palakkad on Sunday.
