Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is facing a fresh case in India after allegedly issuing a threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Independence Day, the Hindustan Times reported.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed an FIR against the US-based leader of the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
Pannun had allegedly announced a reward of Rs 11 crore for “Sikh soldiers” who would prevent PM Modi from unfurling the tricolour at the Red Fort on 15 August.
In a video message from Washington, he had declared Rs 11 crore to those who would stop Modi from unfurling the Tricolour at the Red Fort.
According to the FIR, Pannun not only issued the threat but also unveiled a map of a proposed Khalistan, claiming it would include Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
The agency stated: “By doing so, he has indulged in activities for disrupting sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of India and spreading disaffection among Sikhs against India.”

The case was registered following a directive from the Union Home Ministry, which noted that “having regard to the gravity of the offence, its national and international ramifications and the need to unearth the larger conspiracy, it is required to be investigated by the National Investigation Agency.”
Pannun made the reward announcement during a virtual address on 10 August at the “Meet the Press” event at the Lahore Press Club in Pakistan.
The NIA has registered a case against him for issuing a threat and attempting to provoke disaffection among Sikhs against India.
The FIR names Pannun and some unknown persons, as the agency investigates the wider conspiracy linked to his calls for a separatist referendum under the banner “Delhi Banayga Khalistan.”
