Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha's plea for an interim bail in liquor excise policy case was turned down by a Delhi court on Monday (8 April).

Kavitha is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 15 March.

After being in ED custody for 10 days, she was sent to judicial custody till 9 April. Her regular bail application is pending before the court and will be heard on 20 April.

Her plea arguing bail citing exams of her 16-year-old son was heard by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja on Thursday, who pronounced verdict today. The detailed order is awaited.

Kavitha is accused of conspiring with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for getting favours in the Delhi Excise policy formulation and implementation.

ED accused AAP leaders of getting Rs 100 crore from Kavitha as "a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickback, from the wholesalers was generated."

Kavitha, who is a member of the legislative council (MLC) from Nizamabad, was nabbed after the ED and the Income Tax department conducted searches at her Hyderabad residence.
