Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: BJP Leader And Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis Files Nomination From Nagpur South West Constituency

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis filed his nomination papers for the Maharashtra Assembly from the Nagpur South-West seat.

Ahead of filing the nomination, Fadnavis met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and held a road show in Nagpur.

"I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party's national president J P Nadda and Union minister Nitin Gadkari for showing trust in me and given me the ticket for the sixth time. I am sure that people will bless me. With the works done by the Mahayuti govt, we will form the govt again in the state... Our only aim is - the pace that we have given to Maharashtra, it's needed that Mahayuti govt comes to power again," said the Deputy Chief Minister, Times of India reported.

The BJP had earlier on Sunday (20 October) announced its first list of 99 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly election, scheduled for 20 November.

Maharashtra voters are set to cast their votes in a single-phase election on 20 November, with vote counting scheduled for 23 November.

With the term of the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly concluding in November, the state is gearing up for a fierce competition between two main alliances— the Maha Yuti Alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena (UBT), NCP (led by Sharad Pawar), and Congress.
