Preparations for the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 have gathered momentum, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directing officials to accelerate infrastructure projects and ensure “quality and speed” in their execution.

At a high-level review meeting held on 4 October (Saturday), Fadnavis stressed that completion of Nashik’s new ring road and acquisition of land for Sadhu Gram or Tent City must be treated as top priorities.

Delay in this work will not be tolerated, he said, instructing departments to immediately release necessary funds.

Work on additional roads, bus services, airport and railway upgrades were also flagged for urgent attention to ease the pressure on citizens during the month-long festival.

Sanitation and water quality emerged as central concerns. The Chief Minister emphasised that the water in the riverbed remains clean in Ramkund during the entire Kumbh Mela period and forever.

He urged immediate progress on sewage disposal systems, alongside planning facilities in Sadhugrams in consultation with akhadas.

Advanced technology will be deployed for crowd and security management. A centralised CCTV network is to be set up, with artificial intelligence tools and ‘Marvel’ systems enhancing law and order measures.

Police accommodation, arrangements at Dwarka Circle, and provision of bhandara/langar at parking areas were also highlighted.

Fadnavis introduced the concept of a ‘Digital Kumbh’ for publicity, directing departments to respond swiftly to any negative coverage. Recruitment of district-level workers will also be fast-tracked.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde called for early completion of long-lasting facilities, while Deputy CM Ajit Pawar emphasised the need for high quality and distinctive work, particularly for police housing.

Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Dada Bhuse emphasised clean river water and accelerated development of nearby pilgrimage sites.
