After Tata Motors and Renault India, another leading carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has announced price cuts of up to Rs 1.6 lakh on its SUVs as it passed on the full GST reduction announced by the government earlier this week.
The company, which produces SUVs, will benefit from the GST cut on diesel vehicles with engines up to 1500 cc and length under 4,000 mm, where rates have dropped from 28 per cent to 18 per cent, Hindustan Times reported.
Similar tax relief has been extended to small cars and motorcycles of up to 350cc engine capacity, which now attract 18 per cent GST instead of 28 per cent.
Larger petrol and diesel cars, which earlier faced nearly 50 per cent tax (28 per cent GST plus 22 per cent cess), will now be taxed at a flat 40 per cent under the revised structure.
Mahindra has detailed the post-GST prices across its lineup.
The Bolero/Neo now comes with savings of up to Rs 1.27 lakh, while the XUV3XO offers up to Rs 1.56 lakh benefit on its diesel variant and Rs 1.40 lakh on its petrol model.
The Thar 2WD sees up to Rs 1.35 lakh cut, and the Thar 4WD up to Rs 1.01 lakh.
Among larger SUVs, the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio-N get relief of up to Rs 1.01 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh respectively.
The Thar Roxx benefits by up to Rs 1.33 lakh, and the XUV700 by up to Rs 1.43 lakh.
Earlier, Tata Motors and Renault India confirmed they will pass on the benefits of the GST cuts to customers.
