Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned Rs 51.57 crore for the renovation of roads and construction of bridges leading to Palitana, a revered Jain pilgrimage site, reported ANI.

This latest approval is part of a larger Rs 2,269 crore initiative to improve road connectivity across 44 tourist destinations in Gujarat.

Out of this, Rs 40.50 crore had already been allocated for Palitana’s six roads and bridges, spanning 24.90 km.

With the new allocation, the total investment in Palitana’s road network now stands at Rs 92.07 crore, covering 25.70 km.

A government statement highlighted that the 800-meter-long road and bridge construction will ease traffic congestion along the Palitana-Talaja road, ensuring smoother access to the city.

Additionally, the project aims to enhance safety and convenience for pilgrims, traders, and residents, strengthening the region’s economic and cultural significance.

Beyond improving transport efficiency, the new infrastructure is expected to boost local businesses, cut down travel time, and facilitate uninterrupted movement for the thousands of devotees visiting Palitana’s temples.
