Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana on Wednesday (12 March) announced that the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has approved tenders for 59 development projects worth Rs 37,702 crore, PTI reported.
These programmes, he said, will be initiated immediately after the 17 March Cabinet approval.
“As many as 59 tenders worth nearly Rs 37,702 crore were approved for the construction of Amaravati. Nearly 20,000 people will be engaged in Amaravati development work from next month,” Narayana stated.
This followed the 45th CRDA meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, where key decisions on land distribution and infrastructure were taken.
Earlier, tenders for 73 projects worth Rs 48,012 crore were issued.
Of these, tenders for Rs 37,702 crore were opened and cleared on Monday (10 March), and Letters of Intent would be issued shortly, Narayana said.
Of the new 59 approved projects, 22 are with CRDA for Rs 22,607 crore and 37 Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) projects for Rs 15,095 crore.
Tenders for 19 more projects amounting to Rs 16,871 crore like NTR statue, a signature bridge, Karakatta road, and vital road linkages will be floated at the end of this month.
According to Narayana, the overall development of Amaravati’s capital city is estimated to cost around Rs 64,000 crores and as per the Chief Minister, no funds will be taken from the taxes collected from the people of the state.
With Rs 31,000 crore of World Bank and HUDCO loans and other banks already mobilised and another Rs 6,000 crore mobilised through budgetary provision, the state will be developing 53,500 acres of land in the capital region on which 30 per cent will be utilized as blue and green areas.
The government expects land prices to rise, and will dispose of land by auctions to prepay debt.
