The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has dismissed a constable from service for hiding his marriage to a Pakistani woman, NDTV reported.
The CRPF, in a statement, said that Constable Munir Ahmed of the 41 Battalion has been dismissed from service for "concealing" his marriage to a Pakistani national and harbouring her beyond visa expiry.
"In a matter of serious concern, CT/GD Munir Ahmed of 41 Battalion of CRPF has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa," the CRPF said.
"His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security," the statement added.
After the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed, India revoked visas for most Pakistani nationals and asked them to leave the country within a specified period.
Ahmed's wife, Minal Khan, had received deportation orders and had been sent to the Attari-Wagah border when she got relief from the High Court.
On 29 April, the Court allowed Khan to stay in India for 10 days.
Ahmed, who is from Jammu and had joined the force in 2017, had written a letter and informed his department that he intended to marry a woman from Pakistan, but went ahead without waiting for official approval, NDTV reported citing CRPF sources.
The couple got married over video call on 24 May last year.
Minal Khan reportedly came to India on a tourist visa, which expired on 22 March, yet she continued living with Ahmed beyond the permitted duration.
