Saifullah Kasuri, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist who is accused of plotting the dastardly 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, reportedly made inflammatory remarks against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Pakistan's Lahore.
Kasuri was accompanied by Pakistani security forces, fellow terrorist commanders, and representatives of Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, during the rally on Wednesday (28 May), Times of India reported.
At the rally, Kasuri boasted about the 'fame' he attracted after the massacre of 26 innocent people, mostly tourists, in terror attack on J&K's Pahalgam on 22 April.
“I have become more famous since being accused of the attack,” he gloated, according to the ToI report.
Kasuri was on stage with Malik Ahmad Khan, the speaker of the Punjab assembly, and Talha Saeed, the son of Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed and a US-designated terrorist.
In his speech, Kasuri praised Pakistan's operation known as Bunyan al-Marsoos, which was launched in response to India targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan as part of India's Operation Sindoor, Firstpost reported.
However, India's massive strikes on Pakistani airbases on 10 May forced Islamabad to seek ceasefire understanding.
While Pakistani officials applauded, he said, "Allah loves those who engage in jihad".
After India's successful precision strikes on the Lashkar and JeM headquarters in Pakistan and PoJk, which killed multiple terrorists, the speech seemed to be intended to rally members of the jihadi groups.
Kasauri also made inflammatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Narendra Modi samajhta hai hum goliyon se darne wale hain? Ye uski bhool hai (Modi is mistaken if he thinks we are scared of bullets),” he said.
The LeT terrorist was reportedly reacting to Prime Minister Modi's statement at the Bhuj rally earlier this week that "Pakistan should be ready to face India's bullets if it did not stop using terror as a weapon."
Kasuri had previously claimed that he was not involved in the terror attack in Pahalgam.
During his speech, Kasuri also praised Pakistan's cyber team for "targeting" India's vital railway and communications infrastructure, a claim that Indian authorities have already refuted.
Kasuri previously served on the coordination committee of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Lashkar's "charity" wing, and as president of the Milli Muslim League.
According to TOI, the groups have held a number of public rallies since the Pahalgam attack to raise money in support of the jihad in Kashmir.
