Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (8 October) addressed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at party headquarters in Delhi after the BJP's historic victory in Haryana and its impressive showing in the Jammu and Kashmir polls.

In his speech, the Prime Minister launched a strong attack on the Congress party and its leader, Rahul Gandhi, and also noted the historic nature of the Jammu and Kashmir election.

1. Voters Reject Congress in Haryana

PM Modi highlighted how voters decisively turned away from Congress in Haryana, despite exit polls predicting a win for the opposition.

He stressed that the Congress party struggles to regain power once removed.

"Congress rarely comes back to power. It was 13 years ago that the Congress returned to power in Assam, and there are some states where the Congress has not returned to power for 60 years," he said.

2. Caste Politics and Congress’ Role

The Prime Minister accused Congress of attempting to divide people along caste lines for political gain.

He criticised Congress leaders for encouraging caste-based conflicts among the poor, despite their privileged lifestyles.

"People who were born with a silver spoon and leading 5-star lives, want the poor to fight among themselves over caste. Our Dalit community must not forget. It is Congress which has committed most atrocities against the Dalits," PM Modi stated.

3. Congress' Failed Attempts to Incite Communities

PM Modi said that the Congress had tried to provoke several groups, including Dalits, tribals, farmers, and youth, but failed to mislead them.

He pointed out that voters chose to reject the Congress and endorse the BJP’s approach of development and good governance.

"The Congress tried to provoke Dalits, tribals, farmers and youth in all possible ways, but people saw through its tricks and propaganda and rejected the party," he said.

4. Congress Accused of Spreading Anarchy

The Prime Minister accused the Congress of attempting to destabilise the country by stirring unrest, particularly among farmers.

He alleged that Congress aims to weaken India through such actions.

"The Congress wants to spread anarchy in the country. It wants to weaken it. It has been constantly trying to stoke fires. It tried to instigate the farmers," said Modi.

He asserted that those supporting India’s progress stood with the BJP.

5. Attacks on National Institutions

PM Modi also accused Congress of attempting to undermine the credibility of national institutions, citing their actions in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

He alleged that Congress and its allies sought to disrupt the functioning of these institutions.

Before the Lok Sabha election, the Congress, their alliance partners and Urban Naxal friends went to the court several times to disrupt the functioning of these institutions. They question their neutrality, their independence," the Prime Minister stated.

6. Anti-India Conspiracies Going on to Weaken India

PM Modi said that International conspiracies are going on to weaken India's democracy, economy, and social fabric.

He urged citizens to resist such efforts and praised the people of Haryana for standing against these conspiracies.

"Friends, for some time now, various conspiracies have been unfolding against India. There are efforts from different quarters, both domestic and international, to weaken India's democracy, economy, and social fabric. Today, I say with full responsibility to my beloved fellow citizens that a national party like Congress, along with its allies, is a part of these conspiracies," Modi said.

7. Historic Election in Jammu and Kashmir

The Prime Minister described the Jammu and Kashmir election as a landmark moment for Indian democracy.

He noted that this was the first election held after the complete implementation of India’s constitution, allowing sections of society to vote for the first time in seven decades.

"This election was the first to be held after the complete implementation of India's constitution. After seven decades of independence, many sections of the society didn't have the right to vote. In this election, they got the opportunity to vote for the first time," he said.

He also addressed the concerns raised when Article 370 was abrogated, asserting that the region saw peace instead of unrest.

"Many people claimed that Jammu and Kashmir would burn if Article 370 was abrogated. However, it didn't burn, it blossomed," Modi remarked.

He noted that the elections were conducted peacefully after decades, calling it a "victory for the Constitution and our democracy."

8. BJP’s Strong Performance in Jammu and Kashmir

In terms of vote share, PM Modi pointed out that the BJP emerged as the biggest party in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the party’s growing influence in the region.

"In Jammu and Kashmir, elections have been conducted peacefully after decades. This is a victory for the Constitution and our democracy," the Prime Minister reiterated.
