The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project has crossed major civil construction milestones, with foundations completed along 406 kilometres of the alignment — 350 Km in Gujarat and 56 Km in Maharashtra, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

Work on piers has reached 395 Km, of which 350 km are in Gujarat and 45 Km in Maharashtra.

Girder casting has been carried out for more than 333 km, including 332 Km in Gujarat and 1.67 Km in Maharashtra.

Girder launching has been completed for over 312 km, almost entirely in Gujarat, with 0.16 kilometres in Maharashtra.

Track laying has begun on 127 kilometres of viaduct, and the erection of overhead equipment masts is under way.

Further, out of total 28 tender packages, 24 tender packages have been awarded. All 1651 utilities have been shifted.

Noise barriers are also being installed on the corridor to mitigate noise during operations.

Out of the twelve planned stations, foundation work is finished at eight — Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati.

In Maharashtra, foundations are in progress at Thane, Virar, and Boisar, while excavation at the Bandra Kurla Complex station is nearing completion, with base slab casting having started.

The project has also completed seventeen river bridges, with advanced work on four more in Gujarat and four in Maharashtra. Depot construction is progressing at Thane, Surat, and Sabarmati.

In tunnelling, Gujarat’s only tunnel is finished, and four kilometres of the planned twenty-one-kilometre undersea tunnel between Ghansoli and Shilphata in Maharashtra has been completed.
