In a move aimed at improving user convenience and streamlining compliance, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users.
The revised norms, issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), ensure that FASTag services will not be immediately suspended for users yet to complete KYV, offering them ample time to comply.
Under the updated process, users of cars, jeeps, and vans will no longer need to upload side photographs of their vehicles. Only a front-facing image displaying the number plate and FASTag sticker will now be required.
Additionally, the system will automatically fetch Registration Certificate (RC) details from the Vahan database when the user enters their vehicle number, chassis number, or registered mobile number.
If multiple vehicles are linked to one mobile number, users can simply choose which vehicle to update.
To maintain uninterrupted services, FASTags issued prior to the new policy will remain active unless misuse or malfunction is reported. Issuer banks have also been instructed to send SMS reminders prompting users to complete the KYV process.
In cases where users face issues uploading documents, the issuing banks must proactively reach out to assist them before considering any service disconnection. Customers can also register complaints or seek help regarding KYV by contacting the National Highway Helpline at 1033.
