In a major crackdown on insurgency, security forces in Manipur have arrested nine terrorists from Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts, police officials confirmed on 11 February, reported The Hindu.
In Imphal West district, two terrorists from the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) were apprehended on Monday from the Rupmahal Tank area. Authorities stated that they were actively involved in extortion activities in the region.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal district, security forces conducted two separate operations on Sunday:
Two terrorists from the United National Liberation Front (Koireng) and PREPAK were captured near boundary pillar 85.
Five members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) were arrested from L Minou ridgeline.
A significant cache of weapons was recovered, including - one LMG rifle, one SLR rifle, two INSAS rifles, one AK-47 rifle, 14 magazines and ammunition.
Additionally, police apprehended a weapons trafficker from the Kawnpui area in the Churachandpur district, seizing one Colt 7.65mm auto pistol, one country-made 9mm pistol, three magazines and 16 rounds of ammunition.
