At a rally in Purnea on Monday (15 September) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reaffirmed his loyalty to the BJP-led NDA and assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would “not go anywhere henceforth,” India Today reported.

Nitish admitted that joining hands with the RJD and Congress was a mistake.

“For one or two times, I went to the other side, upon prodding of some of my own party colleagues, one of whom is sitting here,” he was quoted as saying, gesturing toward Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’.

“But, that is a thing of the past. I could never be comfortable with those people. They always indulged in mischief when we shared power. I am now back. And, I will not go anywhere henceforth.”

PM Modi, who inaugurated the National Makhana Board in Purnea the same day, smiled as Nitish’s words drew loud applause from the audience.

Nitish praised Modi for development initiatives in Bihar, highlighting the Union Budget’s makhana push along with his government’s own welfare schemes, including free supply of up to 125 units of electricity and higher social security pensions.

Before wrapping up his speech, the chief minister turned to the women in the crowd and urged them to acknowledge Modi.

“He has done so much for Bihar,” Nitish said. “Khada hokar pranaam kariye. Ye bahut badi baat hai, isliye aap kahe baithe huye ho? Khada ho.” The women rose, folded hands in greeting, and the crowd responded with resounding applause.

Nitish, often called “Paltu Ram” for frequent shifts in allegiance, has switched sides repeatedly, breaking with the BJP in 2013, aligning with the RJD-Congress in 2015, returning to the NDA in 2017, leaving again in 2022, and rejoining last year.
