'No Live Streaming Or Videography Of Meeting': West Bengal Government Invites Protesting Doctors For 'Final Time'

The West Bengal government has reached out to the protesting doctors demanding justice for the RG Kar rape-murder victim for the "fifth and final time."

The talks of the protesting doctors with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee failed on Saturday because of an impasse over the live streaming of the meeting, to which the CM did not agree.

This time, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant has asserted in his email to the protesting doctors that there will be no live streaming or videography of the meeting.

This marks a U-turn as earlier on Saturday, the CM agreed to video record the meeting and provide the doctors a copy after permission from the Supreme Court.

However, when protesting doctors agreed to this condition, they were asked to leave by Health Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, who suggested 'it was too late.'

Reaching out to the doctors, Pant said, "This is the fifth and final time we are reaching out to you for a meeting between the Honourable Chief Minister and your delegates."

"In line with our discussion from the day before, we are once again inviting you to a meeting with the Honourable Chief Minister at her Kalighat residence for a discussion with an open mind," the letter added.

Pant promised that instead of videography, the minutes of the meeting will be recorded and signed by both parties as the 'matter is sub judice in the highest court of the country.'

The meeting is scheduled for 5 pm today (16th September) in which the same delegation which came for the last discussions is invited for a 'productive and fruitful discussion.'
