Nearly a year after leaving his Chief Minister’s residence, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has finally been allotted a government bungalow in Delhi.

The move comes after Delhi High Court proceedings in which Kejriwal sought official accommodation in his capacity as the national president of a recognised political party.

Kejriwal has been assigned a Type VII bungalow at 95, Lodhi Estate, which he inspected on Monday.

The AAP had earlier sought the bungalow at 35, Lodhi Estate, formerly occupied by BSP leader Mayawati, but it had already been allotted to Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary in July.

Type VII bungalows, spanning roughly 5,000 sq ft, feature four bedrooms, expansive lawns, a garage, staff quarters, and office space.

Earlier, AAP MP Raghav Chadha was involved in a dispute over the cancellation of his Type VII bungalow on Pandara Road. Chadha's allotment, made in 2022, had been revoked in 2023 on eligibility grounds. He then moved the Delhi High Court against the House Committee’s decision.

The allottment to Kejriwal comes amid a broader backdrop of Delhi’s high-profile property market. In Lutyens’ Delhi, bungalows have been selling for Rs 200–400 crore, attracting billionaires and corporate leaders.

Earlier this year, ChrysCapital partner Sanjay Kukreja purchased a Golf Links property for Rs 155 crore, while Kusum Ansal sold her Feroze Shah Road bungalow for Rs 241 crore to a Gujarat-based firm.

Notably, a Lakshmi Mittal-linked company recently acquired a sprawling 3,540 sq-yard bungalow on APJ Abdul Kalam Road for a record Rs 310 crore.
