Noida International Airport, under construction in Jewar, is now set to commence domestic passenger and cargo services in September 2025, with international flights anticipated to start by November the same year.
“The progress of the work has been reviewed. Noida airport will be fully ready by November,” Uttar Pradesh’s Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta stated during his two-day visit to Noida, Greater Noida, and the YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority) regions, Money Control reported.
This revised timeline marks the third shift in the airport’s scheduled opening.
Initially, operations were targeted for 29 September 2024 but were postponed first to April 2025 and then to June. Officials attribute these delays largely to the late start of construction, exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite setbacks, the first phase of the airport is expected to be completed and operational this year, offering capacity for 12 million passengers annually.
He hailed the project as transformative, asserting that the Jewar Airport would become the largest in Asia and the fourth largest worldwide.
Developed across four phases at a projected cost of Rs 29,650 crore, the airport’s initial phase alone involves an investment of Rs 10,056 crore, featuring one runway and a terminal building.
Upon full completion by 2040, Noida International Airport is expected to handle up to 70 million passengers annually.
During his visit, Minister Gupta also reviewed multiple infrastructure projects collectively valued at Rs 45,148 crore, anticipated to generate around 1.32 lakh jobs.
He urged officials to ensure that all landholding entities commence construction within their stipulated timelines and deliver projects according to approved detailed project reports.
