Travel from Noida to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will soon take just 20 minutes with the launch of the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) and the Delhi stretch of the Dwarka Expressway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate both projects on 16 August, India TV reported.
The inauguration will be held on the Dwarka Expressway, attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and other MPs and MLAs from the Delhi-NCR region.
UER-2 will serve as an “outer ring road” for Delhi, offering direct airport access from various parts of the city and improving connectivity across the National Capital Region.
Officials say the projects will reduce congestion on existing roads and cut fuel consumption.
UER-2 will link Alipur, located along the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway, to the Dwarka Expressway, passing through Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh and Dwarka, before joining Mahipalpur on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near the airport.
Built at a cost of Rs 8,000 crore, the four- to six-lane expressway is in its final stage and is expected to improve airport connectivity and streamline travel between Delhi and other cities.
Key links of UER-2 include connections to the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway at Alipur, the Delhi-Rohtak Highway at Mundka, and the Sonipat Highway at Bawana.
The Delhi stretch of the Dwarka Expressway, from Kherki Daula toll plaza to Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur, will also be inaugurated. The Gurugram section was opened by PM Modi last year.
