Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday (15 September) laid the foundation for 27 industrial projects across 12 districts in the state, marking a fresh wave of investment worth Rs 25,380 crore.

The ceremony saw the virtual launch of major ventures by SRF Ltd at Gopalpur SEZ, Epsilon in Jharsuguda, Bajrang Steel & Power Ltd in Khurda, Sova Solar in Angul, and Greenply Industries in Koraput.

These projects cover a diverse range of sectors, including renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and advanced manufacturing industries, expected to generate over 51,800 jobs for the youth.

Positioning Odisha as one of India’s most promising investment hubs, Majhi told industry leaders that his government would not only match but surpass incentives offered by other states.

Over the last 15 months, since the formation of the new government, Odisha has approved 58 projects which have already generated more than 1,11,899 jobs, according to the Chief Minister.

He pointed out that nearly 80 per cent of the 77,894 jobs created since he assumed office had gone to Odisha natives.

Highlighting a deliberate shift from mineral-driven industries towards high-value manufacturing, Majhi said the new projects would help Odisha move up the global manufacturing chain and align with its Samruddha Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047 roadmaps.
