Odisha Greenlights Industrial Proposals Worth Rs 1.51 Lakh Crore

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has given a significant boost to the state's industrialisation by approving eight mega projects worth over Rs 1.51 lakh crore.

This initiative, greenlit at a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting on Monday (16 June) will create over 62,000 job opportunities across six districts: Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Khurda, and Sambalpur, reported Rediff.

Majhi emphasised the government's consistent efforts, stating, "Since June 12 last year, his government has held six HLCA meetings."

He added, "In these six meetings, a total of 62 projects have been approved with an investment opportunity of Rs 5.67 lakh crore that can potentially create about 2.42 lakh jobs."

Majhi further declared, "This progress is a clear step towards the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 and the state's vision of Samruddha Odisha by 2036. Odisha is moving confidently towards becoming a leading industrial and investment hub in India."

Vedanta Limited spearheads the aluminium sector with a massive Rs 1,28,000 crore proposal for a 3 MTPA Aluminium Smelter and 4900 MW Captive Power Plant in Dhenkanal, promising 30,000 jobs.

In Ganjam, SRF Limited has proposed to invest Rs 10,000 crore to establish a specialty chemicals and refrigerant manufacturing unit that is likely to generate 20,000 jobs.

Other key approvals include Jindal India Steel Tech Limited's Rs 3,600 crore specialty steel facility in Dhenkanal, Shyam Steel Manufacturing Limited's Rs 2,490 crore integrated steel plant in Keonjhar, and Linde India Limited's Rs 1,303.50 crore Air Separation Unit in Jajpur.

The textiles sector will see Sportking India Limited invest Rs 2,055 crore in Khurda for a cotton and blended yarn manufacturing unit, creating 4,800 jobs.

Additionally, Star Metal Works Private Limited and Supreme Metals Export Private Limited are undertaking projects in the ancillary metal sector.
