The Indian Army launched a powerful retaliatory strike on terrorist launchpads near the Line of Control (LoC) as part of Operation Sindoor, following attempted drone strikes from Pakistan on Indian territory.
According to a statement posted on X by the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (@adgpi), the strikes were conducted in response to Pakistan's "misadventures" involving drone attacks on the nights of 8 and 9 May, targeting multiple locations in “Jammu & Kashmir” and “Punjab.”
“Indian Army Pulverizes Terrorist Launchpads. As a response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of 08 and 09 May 2025 in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, the #Indian Army conducted a coordinated fire assault on terrorist launchpads, pulverizing & razing them to cinders,” the Army said.
The targeted sites were identified as longstanding hubs for planning and executing terror operations against Indian civilians and security forces.
"The terrorist launchpads, located close to the Line of Control, were a hub for planning and executing terror attacks against Indian civilians and security forces in the past," the Army said.
The Army described the action as swift and decisive, claiming it had delivered a "significant blow to terrorist infrastructure and capabilities."
Tensions escalated further as multiple enemy drones, reportedly launched from Pakistan, were spotted flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar, at approximately 5 AM on the nights of 8 and 9 May. Indian air defence units quickly engaged the hostile drones, destroying them before they could reach their targets.
The incident marks the latest in a series of drone strikes and other munitions launched by Pakistan along India's western borders. Indian Army condemned Pakistan's actions, with ADG PI declaring: "Pakistan’s blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders. This attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable."
