The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday (9 June) approved the Noida Film City project's revised layout map, greenlighting the Rs 10,000-crore venture after initial objections.
YEIDA had on 27 May rejected the Boney Kapoor-led consortium's layout, citing green area violations and lacking clearances, reported Times Of India.
The nod from the authority reportedly came after the developer rectified land use, provided a fire no-objection certificate (NOC), secured structural safety clearance, and ensured 15 per cent green cover.
"The revised layout plan now complies with all terms and conditions, including the requisite NOCs for fire safety and structural stability. It also adheres to the approved land-use plan. That is why we approved the layout," YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh was quoted as saying by ToI.
He, however, added that only the phase 1 of the project, covering the industrial area, has been approved currently.
This first phase, spanning 80 acres, will establish a film institute and studios.
The overall 230-acre project in Sector 21 dedicates 155 acres to industrial and 75 acres to commercial use.
Of th industrial portion, 21 acres is assigned for the institute and 134 for other film facilities.
Authorities previously criticised the initial layout for altering designated green areas.
The concession agreement permits large-scale commercial construction only after 15 per cent of core film infrastructure—studios, production units, and the institute— is complete. According to the pact, these facilities need to be ready in three years.
