Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 12th consecutive Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, lauded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its hundred years of service to the nation.
“Our clear view is: This nation is not built merely by forming governments… it is built through the dedicated efforts of millions upon millions of people — sages and seers, scientists, teachers, farmers, youth, soldiers, workers — the efforts of each and every one. It is shaped by individuals as well as institutions," He said.
“Today, with great pride, I wish to mention something significant. A hundred years ago, an organisation was born — the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). One hundred years of service to the nation is a most glorious and golden chapter. Guided by the resolve of nation-building through character-building, and with the aim of serving Mother India, more than a million swayamsevaks have dedicated their lives for the welfare of the motherland over these hundred years," He added.
“Service, dedication, organisation, and unmatched discipline have been its hallmarks. In one sense, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is the world’s largest NGO. Its history is one of a century of selfless commitment," PM Modi further said.
“Today, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I respectfully remember all the swayamsevaks who have contributed to this hundred-year-long journey of service to the nation. The country takes pride in this grand, devoted century-long journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and it will continue to inspire us,” He said.
