Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on 27 September to unveil a series of development initiatives aimed at upgrading healthcare, infrastructure, education, and digital connectivity across the country, The Times of India reported.

A government statement said a key highlight will be the announcement to upgrade MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, and VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Sambalpur, into world-class superspecialty institutions.

The declaration will be made during the national-level Seva Parva event, scheduled for 11 am at Rengeilunda, Berhampur.

The event will also serve as a platform for launching several other projects. These include capacity expansion for eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) nationwide, the doubling of railway lines on the Koraput–Baiguda and Manabar–Koraput–Gorapur sections, and the inauguration of the Sambalpur–Sarala flyover.

In the telecom sector, the Prime Minister will launch BSNL’s indigenous 4G network service, aimed at strengthening domestic digital infrastructure.

A new nationwide skill development initiative will also be rolled out, alongside financial support for 50,000 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya scheme, which targets socio-economically weaker sections.

Ahead of the visit, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level coordination meeting at Lokseva Bhavan on Friday to review arrangements. Officials discussed security, logistics, and preparations to ensure the smooth execution of the Prime Minister’s tour and the Seva Parva celebrations.

The announcements are expected to significantly boost healthcare access in southern and western Odisha, improve transport links, and advance India’s push for self-reliance in education and digital services.
