Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for key railway projects on Monday (6 January) 12.30 pm through video conferencing.

These projects aim to enhance regional connectivity and promote socio-economic development across multiple states.

Inauguration of Jammu Railway Division

A significant highlight of the event will be the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division of the Northern Railway Zone.

The Northern Railway (NR) zone currently has five divisions - Ambala, Delhi, Firozpur, Lucknow, and Moradabad.

With the addition of Jammu, the NR will have six divisions.

This division covers 742.1 km, encompassing routes like Pathankot - Jammu - Udhampur - Srinagar - Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal - Pathankot, Batala - Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar.

The creation of the Jammu Railway Division addresses a long-standing demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is expected to improve connectivity between the region and the rest of India, creating employment opportunities, boosting tourism, and fostering socio-economic growth.

Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana

The Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station, located in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district in Telangana.

Developed as a new coaching terminal, this facility includes a second entry and has been built at a cost of approximately Rs 413 crore.

Equipped with modern passenger amenities and designed with sustainability in mind, the terminal will alleviate congestion at existing stations in the city, such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.

Foundation Stone for Rayagada Railway Division Building

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of the East Coast Railway.

This initiative will strengthen railway connectivity across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and adjoining areas, driving infrastructure development and socio-economic progress in these regions.
