Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations on Saturday (21 June) in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam.
The mass yoga demonstration will begin around 6.30 am at the beachfront of Visakhapatnam, where the Prime Minister will participate in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session alongside nearly five lakh participants.
He will also address the gathering on the occasion.
This year marks the eleventh anniversary of International Day of Yoga, which was proposed by India to the United Nations in 2014, leading to the declaration of 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by the UN General Assembly.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” underscores the connection between individual well-being and planetary health.
It draws from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya”—a call for universal health and freedom from disease.
In a nationwide celebration, Yoga Sangam events will take place at over 3.5 lakh locations across India, making it one of the largest synchronized yoga demonstrations globally.
The initiative also includes participatory contests like Yoga with Family and youth-driven programmes under Yoga Unplugged on platforms such as MyGov and MyBharat.
Since 2015, Prime Minister Modi has led the IDY celebrations from iconic locations including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Mysuru, Srinagar, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
