Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand on 6 March, where he is scheduled to take part in religious and public events.
According to an official release, PM Modi will begin his visit with pooja and darshan at the winter seat of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa at around 9.30 am.
Mukhwa is a small village near the Gangotri Temple that hosts the murti of Goddess Ganga during winters, after it is brought there in a ritual ceremony from the temple as it becomes inaccessible after heavy snowfall.
Later, at around 10.40 am, he will flag off a trek and bike rally and address a public gathering in Harshil.
Harshil is a village, tourist hill station and army area located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, on the way to Gangotri.
His visit comes as Uttarakhand government has initiated a Winter Tourism programme, which has already attracted thousands of devotees to the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
The initiative aims to enhance religious tourism and support the local economy by encouraging homestays, tourism businesses, and related sectors.
The Prime Minister’s presence is expected to draw further attention to the state’s efforts in positioning itself as a year-round spiritual and adventure tourism destination.
