President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, offered prayers and performed the sacred Ganga Aarti at Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj on Monday, 10 February.
ANI reported that earlier in the day, the President took a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the Saraswati rivers.
Upon her arrival in Prayagraj, she was warmly received by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
"Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj," the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated via a post on X.
The Maha Kumbh 2025, which commenced on Paush Purnima (13 January 2025), is witnessing an unprecedented turnout of pilgrims.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, approximately 8.429 million devotees took a dip on Sunday (9 February) alone, contributing to a staggering total of over 420 million visitors so far.
The spiritual fervour extended to political leaders as well. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with his family, also took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam earlier in the day. Expressing his gratitude, he described the experience as an immense privilege.
"People from all over the world are coming here for a holy dip of faith... I consider myself fortunate to be able to come here. The Kumbh of 2027 will be in Haridwar, and we have already started preparations for it," the Uttarakhand CM stated.
The Maha Kumbh Mela will continue until Mahashivratri on 26 February 2025.
