'Pro-Khalistan Sikhs Loyal To Canada': Gurpatwant Singh Pannun After Canadian MP Calls Out Vandalism Of Hindu Temple

A Member of Parliament (MP) of Canada, Chandra Arya urged Canadian law enforcement agencies to take strict action against growing incidents of vandalism of Hindu temples in the North American country.

A BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir was vandalised on Monday (22 July)  in Edmonton in Alberta state with graffiti that said, "PM Modi, MP Arya Hindu terrorist, are anti-Canada."

Calling it out, Arya said on X, "During the last few years, Hindu temples in Greater Toronto Area, British Columbia and other places in Canada are being vandalised with hateful graffiti."

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver also condemned the defacing of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir with anti-India graffiti and requested the Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action against the perpetrators.

He also targeted Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for publicly asking Hindus to go back to India last year and mentioned the celebration of Khalistanis on former PM Indira Gandhi's assassination.

"As I have always been saying, Khalistani extremists seem to get away with ease with their public rhetoric of hate and violence. Again, let me put it on record. Hindu-Canadians are legitimately concerned," he said.

"Like a broken record, I again call on Canadian law enforcement agencies to take this issue seriously before these rhetorics get translated into physical action against Hindu Canadians," Arya added.

Pannun soon attacked Arya in a video message and said, "You have no place in Canada because you are working against Canadian values... promoting interests of your masters in India."

"Abandon your citizenship and move back to your motherland India," Pannun told Chandra and his supporters. "We pro-Khalistan Sikhs have proved over decades that we are loyal to Canada," he added.

On Pannun's call to go back to India, Chandra said, "We have come here and Canada is our land. We have made and continue to make immense positive and productive contributions to the socio-economic development of Canada."

"With our long history of Hindu culture and heritage, we have enriched the multicultural fabric of Canada. Our land is being polluted by Khalistani extremists abusing our freedoms guaranteed by our Canadian Charter of Rights," he added.
