Projects Worth Rs 55,600 Crore Launched For Northeast: PM Inaugurates Sela Tunnel, First Mill Under Mission Palm Oil

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth about Rs 55,600 crores in Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.

The most notable is the opening of the Sela Tunnel, constructed at a cost of about Rs 825 crore. This engineering marvel will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang across Sela Pass on the Balipara - Chariduar - Tawang Road in Arunachal Pradesh.

Modi also launched the UNNATI scheme worth about Rs 10,000 crores for industrial development of the Northeast. The first oil mill under Mission Palm Oil was inaugurated to make India aatmanirbhar in the edible oil sector and boost the income of farmers.

Reiterating his vision of ‘Ashtalakshmi’ for the development of the Northeast, the Prime Minister called the region a strong link of tourism, business and cultural relations with South and Southeast Asia.
