Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday met the wives of soldiers killed in the Pulwama attack.
The women were protesting against the state government alleging that it had failed to fulfil promises made to them in the aftermath of the attack.
He met the three widows, who were also allegedly manhandled by the police during the protests.
The former deputy chief minister said that “action should be taken against those responsible for the misbehaviour with the war widows. We have not fulfilled the promises we made and we should do that immediately.”
Manju, wife of Rohtash Lamba, along with Madhubala, wife of Hemraj Meena, and Sundari Devi, wife of Jeetal Gurjar, were protesting at the residence of Pilot in Jaipur.
When the situation got out of hand, Pilot got out and sat with them and listened to their demands.
Pilot later said, “the police should not have behaved with the widows of martyrs in a wrong way. Action should be taken against those who are responsible for it. Such manhandling is not acceptable.”
The incident is likely to become a election issue in the state which is headed to polls later this year.
