Former Union Minister and Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to initiate a comprehensive audit of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants across the state.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Deora emphasised the need for strict measures against staffing agencies failing to verify proper documentation before job placements.

“I have also recommended strict action against staffing agencies that fail to verify documents before placing individuals in jobs,” Deora stated.

His appeal follows a recent stabbing incident involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence, raising concerns over security.

Deora proposed that district collectors, local municipalities, and law enforcement agencies collaborate to identify undocumented immigrants and ensure appropriate action is taken.

He also stressed the importance of enforcing stringent regulations on staffing agencies to mandate proper verification of documents before hiring.

While highlighting Maharashtra’s status as a hub of inclusivity and opportunity, Deora pointed out the importance of balancing these values with ensuring security and legal compliance.

He said that addressing the issue of illegal immigrants would reinforce public confidence and safeguard the interests of law-abiding citizens and businesses.
