Mumbai Police on Friday (17 January) brought a man to the Bandra Police Station for questioning in connection with the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.

Police confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, and it remains unclear whether the person in custody is the primary suspect in the case.

Khan (54) was stabbed multiple times in his 12th-floor apartment at the 'Satguru Sharan' building in Bandra around 2 am on Thursday. His wife, Kareena Kapoor, their sons Jeh (4) and Taimur (8), and five domestic staff members were present during the attack.

Following the attack, Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors reported six stab injuries, including a major wound to his thoracic spinal cord caused by a lodged knife.

"Surgery was performed to remove a 2.5-inch-long knife from the spine and repair his leaking spinal fluid," the hospital stated. Khan is currently recovering in the ICU.

CCTV footage from the building, timestamped 2.33 am, shows a man wearing a brown collared T-shirt and a red scarf descending the stairs. The suspect, allegedly armed with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade, fled the scene after the attack.

Jeh's nanny, Philip, who first encountered the attacker, told police that he demanded Rs 1 crore. Officials suspect the intruder entered the flat unnoticed during the night with the intent of robbery.

The case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including robbery and house trespass at night.

Mumbai Police are continuing their investigation, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the suspect seen in the CCTV footage.
