The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed four senior leaders in key positions for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections to control the rebellion after ticket distribution.

As per BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda's order, former Jammu West MLA Sat Sharma will be the working president of the party's J&K unit as president Ravindra Raina is busy contesting the election himself.

Dr Nirmal Singh has been appointed the president and Sukh Nandan the vice president of the election campaign committee. Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavindra Gupta is appointed the president of the election management committee.

Notably, all four leaders were eyeing tickets themselves but could not get them. Still, they hold substantial influence over their respective assembly constituencies and hence, the BJP did not want to waste its resources.

The Union Territory will witness voting in three phases on 18 September, 25 September and 1 October. The votes for the multipolar election will be counted on 4 October.
