At least seven Maoists were neutralised during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Thursday (12 December).

The maoists were killed in a joint operation by the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The encounter commenced around 3 am in the dense forests of south Abujhmad near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border.

Following the gunfight, security forces recovered the bodies of seven Maoists in uniform.

The operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar, and Kondagaon districts, alongside CRPF teams.

Search operations in the region are still underway, with additional details to be provided after the operation concludes, stated I G Bastar P Sundarraj.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the bravery of the security forces, saying, "This is a big success for the security forces. I salute and congratulate all the security officers and soldiers involved in this operation for their bravery. Our fight will continue until Naxalism is eradicated".
