Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Bangladesh Prime Minister and reached India on Monday (5 August) afternoon after the violence erupted.

Hasina has reportedly landed in Tripura's capital Agartala along with her sister in a Bangladesh Air Force chopper. There is no official confirmation.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh's army chief Waker-uz-Zaman said that an interim government will run the country and a solution to resolve the crisis will be found by tonight.

Asserting that there is no need of curfew or any emergency in the country, Zaman urged citizens to stop violence and requested students to stay calm and go back home.

In the view of law and order situation in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a high alert along the India-Bangladesh border.

BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary, who took interim charge just a few days ago, has also reached Kolkata as per a BSF officer.

Amid these developments, thousands of protesters entered Sheikh Hasina's official residence, Gono Bhaban in Dhaka.

Some protesters have also defaced a statue of Bangladesh founder and Hasina's father Mujib-ur-Rahman.
