  • According to political commentators, a massive public outreach is necessary for the BRS due to issues like paper leaks, accusations against KCR's daughter K Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam, the rise of the BJP in the state and a resurgent Congress boosted by its recent victory in Karnataka.
  • Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has said that his party, i.e., the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has provided nine years of 'good governance' since the formation of Telangana on 2 June 2014.

He was speaking during the 10th formation day celebrations of the state organised at the recently inaugurated Secretariat.

Before that, he hoisted the national flag and paid tributes to those who gave up their lives during the movement for statehood.

He said that this year, celebrations would continue for 21 days, during which the achivements of the state in his tenure would be showcased.

Formation Day celebrations were also organised at the Raj Bhavan, High Court, State Assembly and Legislative Council.

The central Government too organised celebrations under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme at the Golconda Fort, where Union Minister G Kishan Reddy unfurled the national flag.

Reddy said that the state of Telangana was not the result of the efforts of one person or family but that of the people. Further, he said that the family rule had resulted in rampant corruption.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings.

"My greetings to the people of Telangana on Statehood Day! Endowed with forests and wildlife, Telangana is also uniquely blessed with a rich cultural heritage and talented people. This beautiful state is emerging as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. My best wishes for the continued growth and prosperity of Telangana.", tweeted President Murmu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "On the Formation Day of Telangana, my greetings to the people of this wonderful state. The skills of its people and the richness of its culture are greatly admired. I pray for the well-being and prosperity of Telangana."

According to political commentators, KCR plans to use the celebrations to shore up his image and highlight the initiatives of his government ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year.

They add that a massive public outreach is necessary for the BRS at this point due to issues like paper leaks, accusations against KCR's daughter K Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam, the rise of the BJP and a resurgent Congress boosted by its recent victory in Karnataka.
