Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari has instructed officials to expedite solar and related projects aimed at empowering women's self-help groups (SHGs) across Telangana. The project, she stated, must be completed within six months.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday (23 December), she emphasised the timely establishment of solar power plants across 231 acres of leased endowment land in five districts as part of the first phase.

Santhi Kumari also urged swift action to assist SHGs in procuring 150 electric buses for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). Further, she directed officials to ensure the construction of district federation buildings is completed by June 2025, aiming to strengthen the operational support for SHGs.

She announced the SARAS Mela at the Indira Mahila Shakti Bazaar in Madhapur, scheduled for 25 January, to provide women entrepreneurs a platform to showcase and sell their products.

Highlighting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision to transform SHG members into successful entrepreneurs, she called for accelerated efforts to achieve this objective.

The review meeting, part of the Mahila Shakti programme, was attended by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Secretary Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner Srijana, and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty CEO Divya Devarajan.
